Field verification

Independent Field Verification in West Africa

There is a moment in every remotely funded project when someone asks the only question that matters: has anyone independent actually seen this?

Photos can be old. Reports can be optimistic. Dashboards faithfully display whatever was typed into them. None of it substitutes for a person with no stake in the outcome standing on the site, recording what is physically there.

That is field verification, and it is what InfraPro (SL) Limited was built to provide. We operate an accredited field officer network in Sierra Leone, commissioned per visit, whose findings enter a permanent, tamper-proof evidence record that funders can rely on.

Process

How a verification visit works

1

You commission the visit.

Verification is requested per site, per visit — a single spot check, a monthly cadence across a portfolio, or intensive coverage of a site where something looks wrong. You choose the scope; oversight scales with risk.

2

An accredited officer attends the site.

InfraPro officers are trained, accredited by us, and independent of the implementing party. The organisation being verified never controls the platform and never edits the record.

3

Evidence is captured on site, at the moment of the visit.

The officer records site status, work observed, photographs and location through FieldIntel's structured capture flow. The submission is anchored to the visit itself — it cannot be back-filled, pre-filled, or edited after the fact.

4

The finding enters the record at the highest evidence grade.

Every data point in FieldIntel carries a permanent grade: Verified — recorded on site by an accredited InfraPro officer during a physical visit — sits above Photo-backed and Claim-only. The grade is fixed at capture, forever. A verified finding cannot later be softened, and an unverified claim can never masquerade as a verified one.

5

You receive the verification in your reporting.

Findings flow into the dashboard, the weekly digest and PDF briefs automatically. Officer identity never appears on client-facing documents — the verification speaks with InfraPro's institutional authority, and officers work free of pressure from any party.

Economics

Why per-visit verification changes the economics

Independent verification has traditionally come in one size: the large third-party monitoring contract — mobilised teams, long procurement, six-figure budgets. That model prices most organisations out of independence entirely, leaving them with self-reported data and hope.

Per-visit commissioning breaks that. A programme can put independent eyes on a critical site this month without procuring a monitoring contract. A funder can verify a milestone before releasing a payment tranche. A board can commission a round of spot checks after a concerning report. Independence becomes a routine operating decision, not a capital project.

Coverage

Built for West African ground truth

Our officer network operates across Sierra Leone — the Western Area and the provincial districts where roads, water systems, energy installations and public infrastructure are actually delivered. Reporting runs over WhatsApp with an offline flow for sites beyond network coverage, so verification reaches the sites that need it most, not just the ones with good signal.

As programmes we serve extend across the subregion, the same model — accredited local officers, structured capture, permanent evidence grades — travels with them.

Audience

Who commissions verification

Funders and DFIs verifying milestones, disbursement conditions or reported completion.

Boards and audit committees seeking assurance independent of management reporting.

Programme managers who need ground truth on a site that is drifting.

Organisations using FieldIntel who want periodic independent confirmation layered over their own field reporting.

FAQ

Questions about verification

What makes a visit "verified" rather than just reported?

A finding is graded Verified only when an accredited InfraPro officer physically attends the site and records the evidence there, through the platform's structured capture flow. The grade is applied automatically from the facts of capture — it is never assigned by judgement and never editable afterwards.

Can we commission a single visit?

Yes. Verification is priced and commissioned per officer visit. One spot check, a recurring schedule, or portfolio-wide coverage — the scope is yours to set.

Are your officers independent of the implementer?

Yes, structurally. Officers are employed and accredited by InfraPro, the monitored party never controls the platform or the record, and officer identity does not appear on client-facing documents.

Which areas do you cover?

Sierra Leone nationwide, including provincial districts and sites beyond mobile coverage via the offline reporting flow. Coverage extends with client programmes across West Africa.
